Everything about semantic search

Semantic search is Collato’s game-changing feature that uses natural language processing and AI to interpret the meaning behind a user's search query. In other words, our search engine understands what you’re looking for (regardless of keywords) and returns results with highly relevant content.

Better yet, you control the quality and relevance of the answers. Collato scans through everything inside its workspace, so what you put is what you get.

How to get started.

First things first: Add information. Create a Collato card or import active content from other tools to your workspace. You can use the toolbar to do so.

  1. Click on the icon of your preferred tool*
  2. Select your file from the content browser or paste the file link.
  3. Click anywhere on the map to drop the file in your workspace.
  4. Repeat with other files (if you’d like).

Voilà - that’s it. Once your content is added to Collato, we’ll take care of the rest.

  • It’ll take a moment for us to process the new content. This makes information previewable, searchable, connected, and even summarized.
  • Any changes made to the content from its original tool will sync automatically to Collato*

*Collato currently integrates with Google Drive, Confluence, Jira, Figma, Miro, and Slack. Full integration details are listed here

Ready to search? Here’s how.

Added your content? Check. Got the thumbs-up that it’s all processed? Check. You’re all set to experience this semantic magic.

  1. Go to the search bar at the top left of the page. It says, “Ask anything.”
  2. Type a search query. Or, ask a question.
  3. Hit enter.

If the meaning of your search query has close relevance to the content inside your card, Collato will display the search result. If an answer can be generated from the relevant, sufficient content, then you’ll receive this too.

How to retrieve the best search results.

To retrieve the best search results, it starts with the structure and quality of your content. Please ensure the following:

  • The document title is clear and precise
  • Headings are used appropriately
  • Normal text content is descriptive and informative.

By following these simple steps, you can easily perform a semantic search in Collato and find the information you need, when you need it.

Share the knowledge with team members.

On Collato, you can invite team members to your space. When you’re in your map workspace, simply click on the “Invite” button in the top right to open the “Settings & Team” page in a new tab.

You can invite new team members manually or you can generate a shareable invitation link. All invited members will have “Admin” permissions.
