How to change a card type?

Learn everything about how to change a card type on Collato.

You can create as many card types within your workspace as you’d like; however, one unique card can only be assigned as one card type at a time. If your card’s current card type is “Objective,” but you want to change it to “Key result,” you can do so by opening your card into full-screen view, and selecting “Key result” from the card type dropdown (if “Key result” isn’t created yet, you can add a new card type and name it “Key result”).

Collato

When you switch a card’s card type, its initial properties that aren’t transferable from “Objective” to “Key result” will be reassigned to the “additional properties” section. In other words, our system will retain (and not delete) the property values your card holds even if you change its card type.

If you remove a property from the card type, it will remove the property from all of the cards that have that card type (and show as an additional property). However, it does not delete the property from the workspace entirely.

To permanently remove a property from the entire workspace, you will need to view the property from a card without a card type (aka the card type is “none”), select the property, and delete it. You’ll see the following warning window informing you that you are removing the property from all relevant cards within the workspace.
